Peek Inside the Space Balloon Lifting Passengers 100,000 Feet Above Earth’s Surface

Spaceship Neptune, a futuristic space balloon trip from Space Perspective, the “world’s first luxury spaceflight experience company,” will carry passengers almost 20 miles high to the upper one percent of our atmosphere.

The company, headquartered at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, revealed an illustration of its cabin interior last week. Inside the pressurized Neptune capsule is an impressive “Space Lounge” designed to be both safe and luxurious with 360-degree views of Earth.

Below the base of the cabin compartment is a splashdown cone, making the underside of the compartment an upside-down cone shape that enters the water with minimal turbulence. That way, the ending of the flight is as smooth as the rest. When fully expanded, the silver balloon reaches 18 million cubic feet in volume—large enough to engulf an entire football stadium. At launch, it stands over 700 feet tall, higher than the Space Needle in Seattle.
